Brooktrout
Technology is the market leader in Intelligent Fax technology, having
pioneered the category with the introduction of its TR114 Series
in 1994. Acquired from over a decade of experience, the TR114 Series
has a built in library of communication techniques that identify
and adapt to the various implementations of real world fax machines
and line conditions. This technical formula, TR114 Adaptive Call
Progress, ensures unparalleled levels of compatibility, high rates
of connectivity and high overall transmissions speeds.
The TR114 platform enables messaging software applications
to support a wide range of applications such as LAN fax, broadcast
fax, and production fax. For the enterprise user today there are
more than 40 LAN fax software packages for use with the TR114 boards.
Telecommunications regulatory agencies in over 25 countries have
approved the platform. Densities range from 1 to 4 channels on a
single board and up to 24 channels per chassis.
The TR114 boards support advanced fax features including
14.4kbps transmission, MMR compression, Error Correction Mode, T.434
Binary File Transfer and Ultrafine resolution as well as high performance
voice processing features such as outstanding talk-off and DTMF
cut-through characteristics.
The Brooktrout Technology Fax and Voice Application
Programming Interface (Bfv API) is a powerful tool for sophisticated
application development. High-level functions permit programmers
to quickly create applications. Lower level functions permit direct
interactions with individual elements of fax and voice calls, such
as the T.30 protocol. International service providers requiring
carrier-class performance and entrepreneurial application development
companies requiring development flexibility have built their businesses
on the TR114 platform. Brooktrout’s ongoing commitment to consistent
API support ensures applications written for the TR114 platform
will be compatible with the TRxStream™ Series boards in the future.
Universal PCI (uPCI)
Universal PCI (uPCI) is the ability to
plug a Brooktrout intelligent fax board into either a 3.3V or 5V
bus slot in a server chassis. A board that is uPCI will be physically
‘keyed’ for both 3.3V and 5V bus slots. That is, there will be a
second notch in the PCI connector on the board. The 3.3V notch will
be on the left of the connector, closer to the card bracket than
the 5V notch (which is on the right).
Brooktrout’s TruFax, TR114 Loop Start, TR114 BRI, TR114
DID, TR114 Combo (Loop/DID), and TR1034 fax cards are all Universal
PCI compatible (per PCI-SIG Specification 2.3). All digital
versions of the TR114+P2V, P4V, P8V and P16V are PCI 2.1 and not
PCI 2.2 compliant. All Brooktrout uPCI cards at present are
32-bit, 33MHz, 3.3V/5V universal connector cards. These cards will
work in servers that have the following PCI bus slot characteristics
up to and including:
64-bit connector
133MHz bus clock speed
3.3V-only bus slots
3.3V-only slot signaling
